Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, Demon Slayer is a Japanese animated series best known for it’s visuals and action sequences. It has won Crunchyroll award for best animation multiple times. I watched it with least expectations, but turns out it was way beyond my expectations. The premise is simple: The world is infested with human eating demons, our protagonist Tanjiro gets affected when the whole of his family is massacred only leaving one survivor Nezuko,who is now a demon (Nezuko is Tanjiro’s Younger Sister). Tanjiro must embark on a journey to recover Nezuko back to a proper human being. The plot is filled with intense high octane action sequences as well as emotions which breaks your heart and sometimes make you smile. I want to add that the soundtrack is intense, it adapts itself to the plotline neatly. I personally liked the “Gurenge” which is the opening theme of Season 1. As someone who’d never prioritised anime beyond Pokémon, Demon Slayer reframed my relationship with the medium entirely. It made me think that there will be a lot of other animes which will be worth watching. And before I conclude I would like to congratulate the voice actors, they have done a splendid job giving life to the characters! And about the main characters: As for Zenitsu and Tanjiro, I hoped Inosuke would also get an elaborate backstory;but no. Well let’s hope that we get to see it,maybe in the Infinity Castle Arc. And if you ask me which Arc I liked I would say it’s the Entertainment District Arc.
